The marriage is a sacrament in our Czechoslovak Hussite Church. The woman and man are faced to the Word of God. They make a promise of love, fidelity and loyalty to each other. The wedding ceremony contains of annuciation of Word, lacing the stole – it is a symbol of connection between fiancés. The priest connect the hand of fiancés and they make a promise, drinking from chalise comes after and it is a sign of intimate proximity and it is also a commitment to accept every good and bad thiny in live together. The exchange of ring is a gesture of mutual connection. Finally there is a kiss of love and peace.
The sacrament of marriage is practised in out temple of St. Nicholas for fiancés and couples, where at least one of them is a member of our Czechoslovak Husitte Church – it is a ceremony valid in law. Fiancés have to go through premarital preparation. There is another option for rest of fiancés who are not members of our church – one of this couple can be baptised and after premarital preparations we can preprare a sacrament marriage in the temple of St. Nicholas.
For the foreigners, who would like to have a marriage ceremony in our teple (and it is not possible to be baptised in Czechoslovak Hussite Church or take part at premarital preparation courses for them) we offer this possibility – to have a premarital preparation courses via e-mail or Skype – in English or French language. When fiancés do not accomplish these requirements, we offer the possibility of marrital blessing. In this case it is neccesary to have a ceremony at the office (a legal authority) and afterwards it is possible to have a marital blessing in our temple. This ceremony is similar to sacrament of marriage, but it does not contain the sacrament parts – lacing the stole and chalice drinking.
